About Us
The art dealership of Dr. Tilman Roatzsch was founded in the year 2000.
Our inventory features a wide spectrum of exquisite veneered furniture from the Baroque and Empire periods, with a particular focus on the Biedermeier era.
Naturally, with the purchase of any historical piece of furniture, you will receive a comprehensive, academically grounded expert opinion.
The fact that I am an art historian—having earned my doctorate with a dissertation on antique furniture—proves invaluable to me when authenticating and appraising the objects we offer for sale.
Bibliographical references and image citations drawn from my extensive library on antique European furniture serve to complete these expert reports.
We are pleased to have this opportunity to introduce our specialized firm to you and wish you a pleasant visit to our website.
Qualifications – Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Tilman Roatzsch pursued his university studies in Göttingen, majoring in Art History and minoring in Law.
He completed his legal studies by passing the First State Examination in Law, while he concluded his studies in Art History with a dissertation on historical furniture dating from the late Middle Ages through the early 20th century—specifically focusing on Zunftladen (guild chests), also known as Zunfttruhen.
This academic research—combined with ten years of professional experience within the renowned German art trade, specializing in European furniture of the 18th and early 19th centuries—formed the foundation for his work as an expert appraiser of historical European furniture. In addition to this role, Dr. Roatzsch works as a restorer of high-quality historical furniture.
Since March 2010, he has served as a publicly appointed and sworn expert for antique European furniture, covering all periods up to and including Art Deco.
